Joann’s Mac & Cheese

-1 lb. Box of macaroni, large elbows

-3 squirts popcorn oil

-1 lb. box Velveeta

-1/2 cup pioneer gravy mix

-1 stick of butter

-milk

-1/2 cup heavy cream

-lemon pepper

-grated Colby and cheddar cheese


-Boil macaroni as directed on package, adding popcorn oil. Drain and rinse macaroni. Move macaroni to microwave safe serving dish. Add butter, cut up velveeta, and gravy mix, stir to combine. Add enough milk to cover top of macaroni. Cook macaroni in microwave stirring several times until thickened. Add cream, cook a little longer. Cover with Colby and cheddar. Sprinkle with lemon pepper then heat again until top cheese is melted.


*above is the original recipe and I’ve made it that way for several years. These days, though, I make it in the oven in a really large foil pan. It makes a lot of macaroni!!
